Therapy can provide a path to relieving distress and gaining invaluable self awareness. I offer my patients a safe space through which they can better understand their feelings and experiences and learn to develop skills to cope with stressors.
I believe patients benefit most from a therapist with a strong, but not rigid, theoretical position. I work predominantly as an insight-oriented therapist, understanding how the past elucidates present difficulties. I also help patients examine problematic patterns of thought or behavior when relevant. I prefer to work collaboratively and regularly check-in with my patients about how they are experiencing the process of therapy.
I earned my doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Yeshiva University-Ferkauf Graduate School of Psychology of Albert Einstein College of Medicine. I hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
I have worked with a diverse range of patients and issues. I completed a postdoctoral fellowship in Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy and later earned a certificate from the Couples Therapy Training and Education Program at the William Alanson White Institute. Some of my prior experience includes positions at Jacobi Medical Center, Mount Sinai Hospital, Metropolitan Center for Mental Health, Kings County Hospital Center, and Westchester Jewish Community Services.
I have specialized training in Geropsychology, working with individuals 65 years and above. I have extensive experience in working with this population both in psychotherapy and assessment settings.
In addition to my practice, I work part-time at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University as a therapist to the medical and other health science students.
I am reimbursable as an out-of-network provider by most insurance companies. I am knowledgeable about the process of using your benefits and offer assistance in helping you obtain reimbursements.
For individuals without insurance, I offer a sliding scale fee that we can discuss during our initial consultation.
